NEW PARTS
A word about imported parts:
The American Motors hobby has benefited over the years due to a few of it’s full time parts dealers that have been able to get some badly needed parts reproduced. Often these dealers had to split the high cost of tooling to have some of these parts manufactured. For many years there were some more difficult parts that were badly needed but unavailable. The original manufacturers who made many of these parts for AMC were no longer in business, had scrapped the tooling or were simply not interested in making parts in smaller quantities. Other North American manufacturers for these parts could not be found.
As a last resort, we started looking for offshore manufacturers that would be interested. Until recently, most of these offshore manufacturers wanted 10,000 of a part to do a production run. This large quantity makes sense for the very high volume cars such as 57 Chevys, Mustangs, and Camaros but very little else. You can even purchase an entire body for these cars. Due to most of the very high volume parts already done, and the current economic slow down, things have changed. We are now working with a few Asian manufacturers who have decided to manufacturer parts in much smaller quantities. While this is very good news it also has it’s problems. We start by sending original sample parts overseas and trying to get them to understand what is needed. The language barrier makes this a little more difficult. Several emails to the factory are common to get just one issue resolved. After a prototype is received we inspect and test fit the new part and inform the manufacturer what changes need to be made. Often these changes are parts made wrong, missing parts, color and/or finish issues, wrong hardware, etc. The changes needed to get a complete correct part that is ready for sale can take six months or longer. Another problem when dealing with Asian manufacturers is that they have commonly distributed many of their products to companies who will sell the product as is regardless of how correct it is or the quality. Some of these parts are even sold “out the back door”. These companies have sold early production samples, rejects, and incomplete parts. The Asian manufacturers will try not to scrap any bad parts but instead try to find a buyer for them.
We are an active part of supporting the AMC hobby will continue to pursue these difficult parts and take the steps to get these manufacturers to make the parts correctly.
Left door remote control mirror/ right door matching companion mirror:
1965-1969 ALL models
At last a very nice reproduction of the correct door mirrors. For years a new mirror was very difficult to find and used mirrors often needed an expensive rechrome and are difficult to disassemble. The left mirror includes the hardware needed for installation on a car that did not have a remote mirror originally . The right door mirrors have always been very rare and expensive. Only our mirror kits come complete with the proper gaskets, hardware, templates, and instructions for a correct installation in the correct location.
Standard chrome mirror- for left or right side

Tail lamp chrome housings
1968-1969 AMX, Javelin
These chrome diecast tail lamp housings are very common to be badly pitted and dull . The housings are very detailed with accent lines and sharp corners and to have them rechromed is very expensive due to the labor needed to fill in, polish, and repeat the process to get rid of the pits. Also it had to be polished very carefully or the accent lines and crisp corners would be buffed away. Now for much less than a rechrome you can get brand new housings which will enhance the back of the car.
OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES
1964-1969 Americans, 1963-1964 Classic & Ambassadors
Now for less than trying to rechrome old pitted outside door handles we have brand new complete outside chrome door handles. These handles are a complete assembly including gaskets ready to install on your door. Since the door handles are such a noticeable part, they will improve the appearance of your car They operate smoothly and look great.

WIRING HARNESSES
Reproduction Javelin and AMX wiring harnesses for most 1968 thru 1974 are now available. After our initial contact with a major U.S. harness manufacturer over 10 years ago we were able to finally convince them to reproduce these harnesses. In the last few years we supplied many samples and application information to get these harnesses reproduced. The harnesses were manufactured from original AMC blue prints and original samples so they are exact in every detail including wire color and connectors. Some of the connectors had to be reproduced to make the harness complete like factory originals. Now you can replaced the old original harnesses that are often been tampered with, brittle, and causing electrical problems.

FOLDING JACK HANDLE/LUG WRENCH
1968-1970 AMX and Javelin, 1970 Gremlin and Hornet
It’s not uncommon to have the original jack handle/lug wrench missing or replaced by an incorrect one. This reproduction handle matches one of the common AMC folding types and has the correct ¾ inch hex. It will make it possible to correctly fasten down the spare tire and clamp the inflator bottle using the wire clamp to match the illustration on the jack instructions sticker.

We now have a reproduction pedal pad to replace those damaged or missing pads. We also have reproduction check valves that attached the hose from the foot pump to the nozzle hoses.
Door Glass:
Ever since the AMX was built door glass has always been both hard to find and had adjustment problems. Now a solution to both problems: scratches and chips and/or glass that come loose in the bottom lift shoes. We now have brand new Made in the U.S.A. door glass that have a more modern design feature. This new door glass has 4 holes drilled in the bottom to provide mechanical attachment in addition to bonding the lift shoes on permanently. Included with the glass are poly sleeved hardware and a step by step detailed instruction sheet to thoroughly improve the door glass fit and function to modern standards. By following the step by step instructions, your AMX can have a tight fitting door glass without the typical in and out looseness. Now your AMX can have a modern dilled door glass that will not get loose in the shoes either, NO re-bonding every few years or a homemade bracket to attach the shoes together in hopes of the glass “staying in a little longer.”
The door glass is now available in both clear and tinted for under $200 each.
Door Armrests:
-
1968-1970 AMX & Javelin
1968-1970 Rebel
1971 Matador
-
1968-1971 Ambassador
We now have a solution to the warped and broken armrest problem. The original armrests were made of multiple parts and filled with foam that soon caused the outer skin to separate and peel from the structure. Often the skin is cracked and the hard plastic base is warped or broken. You no longer need to try to repair old armrests or pay a large sum for a “good” one only to have it eventually go bad. This new armrest is an improved one-piece urethane molded design that is padded with a metal structure molded in for strength. When installed on the door it cannot be detected from an original armrest. The bottom of the armrest even has the recess and looks like the vent with the door closed. Available in black but it can be painted correct interior color with proper preparation. $99.00 each.
